Getting all the help you can
As a pregnant teen you will have ALOT on your shoulders. With upcoming doctor visits (there will be alot of them) and all the supplies you will soon be buying, you will probably find yourself in a little bit of a financial bind. I was so stressed about it all because I knew there was no way I could afford all of it! I had absolutely no idea about how expensive everything was! I was embaressed to ask anyone for help with money but I had to. But don’t have any shame in it. There is nothing wrong with asking for help when you need it. Don’t take anything for granted though. You can go to your local social services department and seeing about a “WIC” program. I was qualified for this and it saved about 400 dollars a month! This will be especially helpful when your little one actually comes and will need formula. Search for other local services and programs that may be offered in your area for any other help that might be available.
I wanted only the best for my child but I soon found out that money comes slowly and goes quickly. I had to trim things I knew I didn’t 100% need and put that money towards diapers, clothes, toys, ect. Taking gifts and things of that sort from others is perfectly fine, don’t feel embaressed. (I had a hard time with that)
I felt honored that others were offering to help, whether it be watching him so I could take a shower, offering furniture, or clothes & toys for him. I just made sure they knew how thankful I was and didn’t expect anything more! But yes, going to your local services and departments around your town to see what they can offer are very, very, very helpful. Get the help where you can get it.
